Adjusting Your Fur Kids to the New Baby in the House!

After months of planning and preparation, the new bundle of joy has finally arrived! Now, after months of anticipation, it’s time to introduce the new baby to your furry family members, and that can surely make anyone a little bit nervous. Luckily, we have put together a list of things you can do to make this process a little easier.

The first thing to remember is that cats and dogs can be very sensitive to changes in their environment and they will definitely feel neglected if you suddenly stop spending quality time with them.

  1. To make it easier for your fur babies, before the baby arrives, you can show them the nursery and play some of the nursery songs so they can get use to them. Letting them smell some of the baby’s toys is also a great way to ease them into this new change.
  2. Go for a walk with the pram to get them use to walking with it, so they aren’t afraid of the pram when the baby arrives.
  3. Once the baby is there, you should allow your fur babies to smell the baby, but just make sure it is under close supervision!
  4. Make sure that as the baby grows, you teach them to respect all the animals in the house by making sure they don’t hit them or pull their tails.
  5. If you notice that your fur babies are having trouble adjusting to the change, you can always visit a vet to get some calming synthetic pheromones to ease their tension.
  6. Most importantly, be patient! It will take time for everyone to adjust to these new circumstances, but once the adjustment has been made, your family will be happier than ever before!

By following some of these steps, we hope that the transition of the baby into the house will be smooth and stress-free.
