StudentCo Pet Sitter Profile

If you like this profile, remember the name "Bernard V" and simply click here to tell us more about your pets and when you will need a sitter. StudentCo will let you know if this pet sitter is available (if not, you will be introduced to another, equally awesome, team member).

The next step is the meet-and-greet. This is an informal meeting at your home so you (and your pets!) can get to know a potential sitter. You are invited to discuss your needs and expectations openly, and then decide whether you would like to proceed with a booking. The meet-and-greet is 100% cost and obligation-free and will be arranged for a time that suits you.

Experience with animals and own pets

I have three Husky’s, Merlin, Sabrina and Freya.

We found Freya running around on the streets. We picked her up and placed posters throughout the neighbourhood but nobody claimed her. We phoned husky rescue but they said there were no space with them and thus we fostered her for them. We fostered her until she sadly died of cancer.

Our other husky, Sabrina, was crazy about walking and thus we were outside with them a lot. Due to all these walks Sabrina’s cross ligaments in her knees started to tear. We decided o have her operated on, and it worked for a while but even being calmer, they tore again and we just couldn’t afford to operate on her again. We chose to keep her as comfortable as possible until she later died due to kidney failure. That was an extremely hard time for me and it made me very sad losing her. She took to me at a quite early stage thus we spent a lot of time together playing with my other two dogs.

Our third husky, Merlin, is still with us. He was our first husky - first in, last out! And hopefully that applies only to the dogs, due to me being the youngest!

I also have a Pionus parrot, named Blue. He likes to talk… Loudly! I adopted him after he was rescued from an international smuggling ring. He is still a bit shy around people but we have made some good progress and now he actually touches me - although it is to bite my finger!

I have always loved animals and I have always had the feeling they appreciate me for that, my Uncle’s dog has taken particularly well to me, so much so that I am the only one able to look after him when they go away!

With other sorts of animals, I have had the pleasure to welcome a different sort of breed to my home for some time; Duchess the Hedgehog. The meanest, spikiest hedgehog you would ever find. But she also has the cutest little face and enjoys a good run around the garden. I have also had a short-lived but strong relationship start building with a kitten from a litter of cats my friend had, they say cats choose who to love, and this is true in this case. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep him as my brother is extremely allergic to cat hair.

When I am not spending time at home with my pets, I like to do some nature hiking, and with this comes some knowledge of snakes and spiders.

These experiences have taught me along the way, and made me who I am, 25 years later.
