January’s Pet Sitter of the Month

Tamsyn

We are so excited to present to you Tamsyn – January’s Pet Sitter of the Month. Tamsyn has only been with us for two short years, but in that time has already proven herself a great pet sitter!

What did the pet parents have to say?

“Thank you, Tamsyn, my dogs were happy and healthy, and I loved the fact that they were all over you when we saw you again the next day!

Thanks for all the extras: receiving the domestic worker and gardener, looking after the pool, getting dog food and my Fedex parcel. We all hope to see you again!

Thanks StudentCo for finding Tamsyn at short notice when our holiday plans changed. It is such a relief to go on holiday knowing our beloved pets are safe and looked after and loved!” – Pet parent Marianne, mother of Rufus, Anna, Tess, Lincoln, Botter and Brixton.

Tamsyn is such a sweet person. We fell in love with her and so did our fur kids! Thank you very very much Tamsyn for everything.” – Pet parent Anet, mother of Abby, Jasper and Zennie.

Tamsyn was GREAT!! We felt very comfortable with her staying in our home and looking after our babies while we were away. She sent daily updates with loads of pics. We will definitely use her again.” – Pet parent Diane, mother of Brakkie, Bella, Zoe and Lexi.

Here’s some feedback from Tamsyn herself!

As a StudentCo pet sitter, it goes without saying that you are a BIG fan of animals. Please tell us about the animals you consider to be your family 😊.

I have 5 dogs at home that I can’t imagine my life without. They lift me up on the days when I’m feeling down and just know when I need some extra cuddles if I’m feeling stressed. They all have such amazing personalities, it’s hard to not instantly smile and fall in love with them.

Two of my Dachshunds are old, but still act young. They love going for walks and barking at everything and anything that moves. My other two Dachshunds are both only about 2 years old, so they have a lot of energy. They are super cute and very good at giving me the puppy dog eyes when they want something.

Lastly, I have a Labrador. He is about 4 years old and he loves playing with the two miniature dachshunds. They are the best of friends, even though his head is probably the size of their whole body.”

Is there an animal charity or cause that is close to your heart? If so, please tell us more about them.

“I don’t get to spend as much time as I wish I could at animal shelters, but I did get a chance to volunteered at the Oscar’s Arc Woof Project last year, and that was one of the highlights of 2019 for me. It was so much fun to just spend the day with all the dogs and finding some of the dogs a permanent home. I will definitely be taking part in more events like that, because it just makes me feel so good to see how much happiness animals can bring to people’s lives.”

What is your favourite thing about working as a pet sitter?

My favourite thing about being a pet sitter is definitely getting to know and love other people’s animals. I love learning new things about different dogs/cats.

PS. I also wasn’t really fond of many cats, but after pet sitting a few through StudentCo, I have definitely become more of a cat lover.”

If you could have an up-close encounter with any type of wildlife, what would you choose?

I would love to have an up-close encounter with a hippopotamus. I love swimming and anything to do with water, and I feel like that would be a once in a lifetime kind of experience – floating around with a hippo. (lol, super weird – I know)”

If you HAD to pick, would you say that you are a Dog Person or a Cat Person?

“I am definitely more of a dog person.

Tell us something surprising about yourself!

I am a qualified scuba diver – up to 40m deep.”

Any funny animal stories or memories you think our pet parents would enjoy?

“I can’t think of anything in particular of the top of my head. Probably just a funny habit my Labrador, Rocky, has is that he farts every time he jumps up onto the couches or the beds. And then he looks around as if to see who did it. Then when you ask him if he farted, he gets all shy and pretends it wasn’t him.”
