StudentCo Pet Sitter Profile

If you like this profile, remember the name "Jarod B" and simply click here to tell us more about your pets and when you will need a sitter. StudentCo will let you know if this pet sitter is available (if not, you will be introduced to another, equally awesome, team member).

The next step is the meet-and-greet. This is an informal meeting at your home so you (and your pets!) can get to know a potential sitter. You are invited to discuss your needs and expectations openly, and then decide whether you would like to proceed with a booking. The meet-and-greet is 100% cost and obligation-free and will be arranged for a time that suits you.

Experience with animals and own pets

Whenever I was asked as a child what I want to be when I grow up, my answer would be: "I am going to be the best vet in the world." I have always loved animals - simply being around them and taking care of them provides endless joy to me, regardless of the unconditional love they never fail to provide. I would always ask my mom to take me to the pet shop during school holidays and my favourite excursion was going to the SPCA simply to play with the dogs and cats. My favourite question to ask my parents for Christmas and birthdays was "please may i just get a dog or cat?" and eventually got Tigger, my over-sized, Garfield-like Tabby when I turned ten. Despite the joy Tiggy brought me, the temptation to take every pet I came across home with me was never-ending. Unfortunately, due to a degenerative cancer, I was required to take Tiggy to be put down a few weeks ago.

Due to my dad not allowing us to have any dogs, I would find every excuse to visit my neighbours to spend time with their dogs due to the endless amounts of joy they brought and continue to bring to me. One of my favourite activities is interacting with pets I have not interacted with yet, such as holding Luke the African Grey Parrot, feeding Rocky the bearded dragon and even feeding and grooming Leslie the donkey, all of which I have done this year. I also recently visited Akwaaba lodge where I had the opportunity to hold and interact with lion and tiger cubs (photo attached below) and learn more about their upbringing in a tame environment rather than out in nature.

To this day, I would have loved to be a vet but decided to rather go into teaching due to the opportunity to travel and help learners abroad learn English as a foreign language. My love for animals of all shapes and sizes never ceases to exist and I will always have a soft spot for animals and will no doubt own a variety of pets once I have my own house someday. I clearly recall hearing about StudentCo and was immediately interested when i heard the term: "pet sitting" as I was immediately interested in discovering the variety of pets I could potentially have the privilege of taking care of.
