Experience with animals and own pets

Growing up, my family had 5 dogs: Betsy and Fluffy, who were Labrador Retrievers, and three Beagle puppies named Scruffy, Josie, and Adam. I loved them dearly and spent a lot of my time running around the garden with them. Over the years, Betsy and Fluffy passed on, and my family decided to give the Beagle puppies away.

We then had a cat named Jimmy, who was a stray that we took in, and two Jack Russel puppies, Charlie and Odie. Jimmy eventually ran away, and a few years after that, Charlie was tragically run over by a car. My family decided to put Odie up for adoption, and since then, we have not owned any pets.

Despite this, I spend lots of time looking after the pets of friends, and while I attend university in Grahamstown, I also volunteer at the Grahamstown SPCA every other Sunday.

I taught Jason in my capacity as an Afrikaans FAL teacher. I knew him for three years and watched him grow into the humble young man that he currently is. We keep in touch even after he matriculated. He is a gifted and responsible young man who always stands up for what he believes in and fights for the underdog "no pun intended";-)
