June’s Pet Sitter of the Month

Wow! The BIGGEST congratulations to Louise, June 2019’s Pet Sitter of the Month! Louise has been a loyal member of the StudentCo team since March 2018. In the time that she’s been with us, she has been consistently good at what she does and has made many pet parents and fur babies feel happy and relaxed! She is also very friendly, enthusiastic and is always a delight to communicate with.

What did the pet parents have to say?

“We were super happy with Louise as our sitter. We felt comfortable that our kids were well looked after. We will definitely use her again in the future!” – Coco, Scout, Fritz and Koos’ Human Mommy, Anca

“Louise was very friendly and was immediately comfortable when meeting the furbabies. She looked after them all very well. She can definitely look after them again.” – Pet Parent Debbie, mother of Diesel, Balto, Koda, Azura and Max.

“Louise was absolutely excellent, and Lookie looked sooo happy with her as well. Will definitely make use of her again.” – Michelle, mother of Lookie the Toypom.

Here’s some feedback from Louise herself!

When Louise heard that she had been chosen as StudentCo’s Pet Sitter of the Month, she said that she felt honoured! She then eagerly shared more about herself by answering a couple of our questions:

As a StudentCo pet sitter, it goes without saying that you are a BIG fan of animals. Please tell us about the animals you consider to be your family.

“Rover, the Labrador, and Daisy and Jorsie, the Miniature Dachshunds, are the closest fur family I have. They live with my parents and I do not get to see them that often anymore since I live away from home.

However, every fur baby that I have looked after since I started working at StudentCo, managed to find a very special place in my heart and I do consider them to be part of my big fur family as well. I have so many good memories with the fur kids that I have looked after and it gives me great joy to think back and reminisce about them.”

Is there an animal charity or cause that is close to your heart? If so, please tell us more about them.

“I recently worked on a project with the University of Pretoria at a wild life rehabilitation centre where a team of animal-lovers helped renovate some of the enclosures. This was a project close to my heart since I know that the animals there have been rescued and are being rehabilitated. We wanted to make them feel that they are safe and at home.”

What is your favourite thing about working as a pet sitter?

“It makes my heart so happy whenever a doggo is excited when I arrive at the house, or if a catto comes and greets me when I walk inside. I love making fur babies feel safe and at home, so that they don’t miss their pet parents too much. Time spent with the fur kids is time well spent. Needless to say, my favourite part of being a pet sitter is spending time with them and making sure that they are doing okay and that they are happy. I also looovvvveee the cuddles!”

If you could have an up-close encounter with any type of wildlife, what would you choose?

“Sea turtles are majestic creatures and I would very much like it if I could have a close-up encounter with them.”

If you HAD to pick, would you say that you are a Dog Person or a Cat Person?

“If I HAD to pick, I would say that I am a Dog Person. I love the energy dogs have. They are able to pick up on your moods, and just ALWAYS make you feel better about any situation.”

Tell us something surprising about yourself

“I like animals more than I like humans πŸ˜‰.”

StudentCo team members are all students. What are you studying, and what do dream of doing once you have completed your course?

“I am currently in my final year of studying BCom Informatics. I am very interested and intrigued by the degree that I am pursuing and I hope to be a successful business analyst. I also dream of saving elephants in countries like Thailand and Malaysia where they are being kept for the amusement of tourists. It breaks my heart to see them chained up, used and abused.”

Any funny animal stories or memories you think our pet parents would enjoy?

“During summertime, my Labrador gets quite hot so we usually take him to the doggy parlour to get a haircut. This time his usual ‘hairdresser’ was unavailable, so another helped us out. When Rover was all pampered and polished he looked like a loin, with a mane, furry tail and everything!”
