StudentCo’s Pets of the Month

Bruno and Sophie

We are so excited to present to you June 2019’s Pets of the Month – the fearless Bruno and the dainty Sophie! These two Bulldog siblings are 4 years apart in age and have only known each other for a little over two months, but they are already the best of friends!

Who nominated Bruno and Sophie?

Bruno and Sophie were nominated by their StudentCo sitter, Janeska. This is what she had to say in her nomination:

“Well, Bruno has been my one of my regular furbaby clients since I started at StudentCo a few years ago.

He loves to cuddle in front of the TV and can be quite playful. When he’s very content, he’ll nibble at my fingers or toes but is super careful to be gentle and not to hurt me.

He will sit VERY patiently like a very good boy (good boy face and all😂) when you cut him an apple and will ever so gently take the slices from you. He has the most theatrical facial expressions I’ve ever seen on a dog!

Sophie is his new little sister and as much as she annoys him, he will try his best never to hurt her.

Sophie is the life of the party and her favourite game is trying to catch your shoe when you walk. Part of her absolute cuteness is that she hasn’t yet grown into her skin, as she is only a few months old.”

What did their hoomans have to say?

Mom, Vicki, was so excited to hear that her babies had been chosen as our Pets of the Month and even took the time to answer these exciting questions about them.

Everyone loves a good origin story – how did Bruno and Sophie become part of the Gunga clan?

“We just love Bulldogs, so we went searching for our perfect match 4 years ago and found Bruno.

Sophie was more a spur of the moment decision. Two months ago we heard about a litter of bulldog puppies. This was on a Tuesday and she came home with us on the Thursday.

Even though Sophie and Bruno are 4 years apart, they have adapted to each other very quickly.”

Naming our fur kids is always fun – how did you choose the names Bruno and Sophie?

“Bruno was fearless and assertive around other dogs as a pup, so we tried to find a name that matched his strong personality.

We thought Sophie would be a lot more “lady-like” than she is turning out to be, hence the princess inspired name for her.”

Do they have any unique quirks or habits that can’t help but make you smile?

“Bruno is insistent on sitting on top off his Dad and not wanting to move no matter what.

Sophie’s breathing sounds like a little piggy when she has something in the mouth or when she’s chewing on her toys.”

Would you describe Bruno and Sophie as adventurous or laid-back?

“Bruno is very laid-back.

Sophie is the wild child with way too much energy and wonders to all parts of the house.”

Their perfect day would be…

“Receiving continuous doggy massages, an unlimited amount of treats and just lazing around the house.”

As pet parents we’re not allowed to have favourites, but who is Bruno and Sophie’s favourite human?

“Bruno’s favourite is his Dad. He is very protective over him and also gets very jealous when Sophie wants to play with Daddy too.

Sophie on the other hand doesn’t have a favourite at the moment. As long as you have toes and fingers that she can chew on, she is happy.”

Their favourite food is…

“Bruno loves his biltong and apples and Sophie loves anything that she can eat at the moment.”

Their favourite toy is…

“Bruno’s is a stuffed little piggy that he is yet to destroy, while Sophie’s is a squeaky toy that fascinates her everytime it squeaks.”

Their favourite StudentCo Pet Sitter is…

“Janeska is definitely their favourite Pet Sitter. They both just love her because she spoils them with treats and doggie massages.”
