March’s Pet Sitter of the Month:

Daniella!

Congratulations to our March Pet Sitter of the Month, Daniella! Daniella has been a loyal member of the StudentCo team for over three years. In this time, she has looked after many fur babies and is loved by many pet parents for her willingness to go above and beyond in her service. No wonder Daniella’s been selected as Pet Sitter of the Month…

What did the pet parents have to say?

“We were unfortunate to have a break-in at our house while awayI called Daniella and she went to check on the pets and see whether they were ok. She also continued her visits with compassion and understanding that the cats were a bit traumatised by the events. I have used this service a lot and have always been impressed. This time it was above and beyond my high expectations and I am very grateful to be able to trust my pets to Daniella.” – Pet parent Christine, Parent of Asuka and Xiaoyu

“Daniella is a great pet-sitter and the only pet-sitter we are willing to have look after our pets. She gives updates with photos and has a loving friendly characterI trust her in my home and with my pets.” – Pet Parent Izelle, Mother of Alfie and Dusty.

Let’s talk to the winner!

As a StudentCo pet sitter, it goes without saying that you are a BIG fan of animals. Please tell us about the animals you consider to be your family.

“I have two Husky crosses named Oliver and Hayley, two kitties, Shadow and Sabastian, as well as two fish.”

Is there an animal charity or cause that is close to your heart? If so, please tell us more about them.

“Wollies Animal Project is very close to my heart. StudentCo previously organised a visit to the shelter, where I saw the most wonderful cat enclosure with cats roaming freely and taking advantage of the many fun places to sit and relax. They also provided their dogs with comfy kennels. I even got to walk a few of the cute dogs while we were visiting. It is just such a great shelter!”

What is your favourite thing about working as a pet sitter?

“My favourite part of being a pet sitter is  getting to meet all the fur babies with different personalities. I also love being able to provide the fur babies with the love and attention that they need while their parents are away.”

If you could have an up-close encounter with any type of wildlife, what would you choose?

“As weird as it sounds, I would choose a close-up with a hippo! Growing up in Kwazulu-Natal, hippos have always been around. However, we always make sure to keep our distance. I would love to get up close to a hippo to appreciate just how big they are!”

If you HAD to pick, would you say that you are a Dog Person or a Cat Person?

“Wow, this is such a difficult question to answer. I think I would have to say that I am a cat person. However, my answer to this question is always changing!”

Tell us something surprising about yourself?

“I’m currently studying towards my BSc (Hons) in Geography and will be doing a research project on carbon storage in mangrove ecosystems in Kwazulu-Natal. There I’ll be out in the field collecting samples of sediment and other wonderful things! This is not something I would have expected myself to be doing, and it even surprises me. But I’m really looking forward to it!”

Any funny animal stories or memories you think our pet parents would enjoy?

“One story that always sticks with me is from the day we went to meet and adopt my cat, Shadow. When we arrived at the shelter, I picked him up and he just laid in my arms. He then started to touch my face with his paws, staring into my eyes, and we knew then that he was the right match for us! But do you think he has ever done this again? NO! He doesn’t even enjoy being picked up anymore and will huff and puff until you put him down!”
