May’s Pet Sitter of the Month

Wow! The BIGGEST congratulations to Megan, May 2019’s Pet Sitter of the Month! Megan has been a loyal member of the StudentCo team since.. wait for it.. December 2014. Yes, 2014! Megan is one of our longest standing team members and in the five years that she has been with us, she has never had a negative review! We are SO lucky to have her in our arsenal!

What did the pet parents have to say?

It was tough to pick reviews to display in this article since Megan has close to a staggering 50 five star reviews, but here are a few of the most special pet parent review snippets:

I was so comfortable to leave my kiddies with Megan. She really went the extra mile to accommodate us, as well as them. I would definitely want her in the future. She is a jewel.” – Lira, Jambo and Pixie’s Pet Parent, K. Botma

It’s lovely working with someone this passionate and dedicated. Megan has been an absolute star and her integrity and love for animals is very much appreciated! We will definitely make use of StudentCo in the future and of course book Megan every time!! :)” – Pet Parent Anja, mother of Sam and Sandals

Megan is wonderful, can we please adopt her?” – Nadine, mother of Mojo, Peppa and Pazzi.

I am very happy with Megan and the service that we have received from StudentCo. I was at ease with leaving our pets with Megan for the weekend. It was clear that she loves animals a lot and they immediately warmed up to her.” – Pet Parent Laetitia, mother of Coco and Rolo.

Here’s some feedback from Megan herself!

When Megan heard from us that she had been chosen as StudentCo’s Pet Sitter of the Month, her exact words were “Wow! Thank you for the lovely email!”. She then eagerly shared more about herself by answering a couple of our questions:

As a StudentCo pet sitter, it goes without saying that you are a BIG fan of animals. Please tell us about the animals you consider to be your family.

“I have 3 beautiful dogs – Smudge, Lady and the newest addition, Mouse (5 month old Jack Russell). They are most certainly more human than pet! Smudge is an 8-year-old Australian Cattle dog cross that we adopted from the SPCA. She is a fattie who loves her treats.

Lady is a 5-year-old Border Collie cross. We got her as a puppy from Border Collie rescue. Absolutely true to her name – she is a real madam and is for some reason OBSESSED with lights. She runs around like a mad thing chasing after them like a cat does with a laser!

Mouse, our newest family member, is the naughtiest little Jack Russell you’ll ever meet! She steals underwear and eats and chews up EVERYTHING! She also has a little skunk toy that she absolutely adores.”

Is there an animal charity or cause that is close to your heart? If so, please tell us more about them.

“I couldn’t be more in love with an animal than I am with my baby, Lady. At the clinic where I work, we often sterilize and treat dogs from Border Collie Rescue, where Lady was adopted. I’ve developed such a love for their Border Collies and really admire what the welfare does for this breed.”

What is your favourite thing about working as a pet sitter?

“I love meeting all kinds of pets and getting to know their different personalities. It just shows how unique each and every one of them are.”

If you could have an up-close encounter with any type of wildlife, what would you choose?

“I have always loved elephants. They have beautiful, soulful eyes and I believe that their nature is generally soft and gentle.”

If you HAD to pick, would you say that you are a Dog Person or a Cat Person?

“Most definitely a dog person! Their excitement and enthusiasm to just love and please their human is the best thing about them.”

Tell us something surprising about yourself

“I am currently learning how to speak German. My best friend Dominique learnt German when she au paired overseas a few years ago, and ever since then I also wanted to learn how to speak a different language. I hope to be able to visit Germany in the near future.”

StudentCo team members are all students. What are you studying, and what do dream of doing once you have completed your course?

“I completed my Dipl Animal Health tech last year and am currently enrolled in the BTech. I’ve always wanted to work with animals. After my degree, I didn’t want to go back to full time studying, so I chose to start working and studying part time. I would love to run a large animal primary health care clinic – working with livestock is my dream!”

Any funny animal stories or memories you think our pet parents would enjoy?

“I have 3 Jack Russells that I regularly look after – Mojo, Peppa and Pazzi. Pazzi is by far the silliest, craziest, most energetic little dog I have ever come across. She is always up to mischief and doesn’t relax for a second, except when it comes to a cuddle! She LOVES a warm lap! She definitely has a place in my heart. All my pet babies do!”
